Gary F. Glasscock

Lansing, Michigan

After a short, brave battle with lung cancer, Daddy passed peacefully away on the morning of April 12, 2015, surrounded by the love of his family.  Gary was born December 31, 1951 to Dee and Janet Glasscock.  He loved good music, playing pool, fishing, Tigers baseball, recalling stories of days gone by and his quick wit was unmatched.  His greatest joy, though, was being a grandpa.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Angela (Sam) Harcus, Shaun (Keagin Malott) Glasscock and Derek Glasscock; beloved grandchildren, Logan and Charlee Harcus; his brother, Loren (Cheryl) Glasscock; sister, Dawn (John) Hall; and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Friday, April 17, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon will immediately follow in Haslett. Please come as you are and share a fun memory.  The family would like to thank Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, especially Angie and Tracey, for their compassionate, loving care in Daddy’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family c/o Angela Harcus, to be used to establish a college fund for Gary’s grandchildren.

Gary was a good guy who loved to crack jokes and
use his wit to make a point. He was a good friend, loved
his kids and truly felt blessed to be a Grandpa. His smile, his stories
his clever remarks will be missed. We are so sorry for your loss.

I am still having a hard time believing that he has passed, way too soon! It has been about 20 yrs since I last saw Gary & wished that I could have been around to say goodbye. Growing up with Dawn, (my dearest lifelong friend), I have always felt that Gary was another big brother from another great Mother! He was so fun to be around, liked to tease & joke around with us girls & always had a great smile! I can only imagine what a great, proud & fun Grandpa that he was. He will be missed & remembered dearly by many! My condolences to his entire family, & may he rest rest in peace!

As a friend of Loren’s, I would like to extend my condolences from my wife and me. I never met Gary but felt as if I knew him from my conversations with Loren. RIP Gary and to your family, I hope that you will always remember the great times with him.
