Gale H. Mead

Gale arrived on February 1, 1937, youngest son of Horace and Hazel Mead of Ovid, MI and departed to heaven on this day of March 18, 2011. He was currently of Clearwater, FL and DeWitt, MI. Gale retired from Fisher Body in 1997 as a pipe fitter/purchasing expediter. For many years, Gale enjoyed bowling, deer hunting, and golfing. Subsequent to retirement he liked to play cards and do well on a shuffleboard team. He had fond memories of not only family vacations but also trips from his dream list – Alaska, Australia, and a cruise going through the Panama Canal. Beginning in 2004, Gale was very happy to winter in Florida.

Gale is survived by his wife, Lee, and three wonderful children with their three – Michael (Lisa) of Elsie, MI with son Terry; Charlene (Emerson) Hyde of Mason, MI with daughter Megan; and Patrick (Angie) of Angola, IN with daughter Makayla. Other survivors include the mother of his children, Donna Allen, a stepdaughter, Kathleen Harris, brother Donald (Alberta) Mead, extended Perry family loved ones who all called him grandpa, and several nephews and nieces, especially Ellen Sue. Gale was predeceased by his parents, one brother, and four sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw Street, Lansing, MI. Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 27th at the funeral home. Should you wish to donate in his memory, an animal related organization would be a preference, e.g. National Wildlife Federation.
