Fred N. White

  Lansing

Fred Nathaniel White passed away peacefully on October 8, 2016, at the age of 89, with his wife Norrene by his side.  He was born November 5, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Inez (nee Hinton) and Fred O. White.  He attended the University of Michigan where he received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.  Fred was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed all the Michigan outdoor sports, particularly fishing off of Grand Haven and hunting. He was President of the Fred White Engineering Company for 51 years, and designed many of the major residential and commercial development projects in the Lansing area. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lansing and a member of Commanders Club of Michigan.

He is survived by his wife, Norrene and his sons Charles (Julia), William (Mary Ann), Jack (Patti), Thomas (Becky), James, Phillip (Dewi), and Roger (Taylor) and his stepdaughter Tera (nee Golightly) and Schell West.  He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his sons, Phyllis, his eldest son Fred Gregory, his stepson T.J. Golightly and his sister Marjorie Palmer.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at the West Lansing Church of Christ, 5505 W. St. Joseph Hwy., Lansing, MI 48917 with Pastor Ron Klepal officiating. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the church or to Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 South Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813. The family is being served by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

I am so sorry for your loss. He was a great man and I appreciated everything he did for my son Gus. I could never thank him enough. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
