Edward H. Kessler

Edward KesslerBorn February 27, 1933, in New York City, Edward died September 26, 2016, in Lansing.  Ed was a proud veteran of the United States Army.  He graduated from New York City Community College with a degree in electronics.  He retired from the Federal Aviation Agency at Lansing Capital City Airport as an electronic maintenance technician.  Ed was a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek in East Lansing, a past president of Michigan State Chapter and Lansing Chapter #289 of National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), where he was also the treasurer of the Paul Davis Scholarship Fund for the last 10 years, past president of Lansing Area Golden K Kiwanis, American Legion Post #269 in Haslett, and the 40 et 8 Society of Lansing.  Ed was a respected man and a friend to all.

Ed is survived by his wife of 57 years, Arlene; 5 children, Robert (Lucy), David (Sylvia), Eric (Julie), Daniel (Shannon), and Tricia; 5 grandchildren, Matthew (Becky) Allen, Tyler Allen, Emily (Chris) Gonzales, Ruby Jane and Eleanor Findley Kessler; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Monroe Kessler of Indiana; sister-in-law, Kay Taylor of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek, 1924 Coolidge Rd., East Lansing, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Shaarey Zedek, American Legion Post #269, or NARFE – Paul Davis Scholarship Fund in memory of Edward Kessler.

I am sadden to learn of Ed’s passing. I have fond memories of our daily coffee breaks at the Lansing Airport. My condolences to the family.

Arlene,

I am just so very sorry to hear of Ed’s death! I have missed the two of you in our exercise class. Georgeanne let everyone know today the sad news. My heart goes out to you in your very great loss.
