Cayden J. Sellers

Our precious gift Cayden, age seven, of Grand Ledge, went to be with Jesus on February 12, 2011.  He was born November 21, 2003 in Lansing.

Cayden loved to play football and soccer and loved to play with his twin brothers, Michael and Matthew.  Cayden was full of energy and life and had a contagious smile that would light up a room. He will be remembered as loving and thoughtful. One of his favorite things was to make heartfelt, handmade notes for his family. Cayden had a silly, lighthearted personality and loved making people laugh; his caring ways endeared him to all who knew him.

He is survived by parents James William Sellers, III and Shannon Marie Sellers; brothers, Michael, Matthew, and Josh; maternal grandparents, Gregory and Debra Knefel; maternal great-grandfather, Charles Burton; paternal grandparents, Keith and Jill Zais; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and treasured friends. He was loved by us all and will be missed by many.

A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing, MI 48933. A pre-service visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Grand Ledge Baptist Church, 1120 West Willow Highway, Grand Ledge, MI 48837. A funeral service celebrating the life of Cayden Joseph Sellers will follow at 11:00 a.m. There will be a luncheon following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sellers family. Donations may be sent to the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing, MI 48933.

Dear Shannon and family,
I feel compelled to write to you…even though we formally do not know each other. My name is Lisa; my family and I are the adoptive family of Dakota. We wanted to tell you how very sorry we are, for your loss. I have carried you close in my heart since and feel as though we have this connection ~ if only through a furry pup. When I look at Dakota, I know during his time with your family, he was able to bring happiness to Cayden ~ we feel blessed to have him and know that Dakota is the warm and loving puppy because of the love and attention given by your family.

Please know that we lift you up in our prayers; we wish for you, peace, strength, and love during this most difficult time.

Love,
Lisa, Duane, Kory,and Max Soulliere

My sympathy and prayers go out to both of you and your families in the loss of your son, Cayden. May he rest in peace, and may you all rest in the knowledge that he is now in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Though you are dealing with the grief and sorrow that accompanies loss, you will come to appreciate that the Lord has taken Cayden into His care and will keep him safe until you are reunited when the Lord calls each of you home. Heaven is a better place because it has been blessed with your precious son, Cayden. God bless you all in the coming days, weeks, months, and always.

With the help of our Lord Jesus I am sending heart tugging condolence’s for Cayden’s parents “James and Shannon” and his brothers. Yes, Cayden has a smile that lights up his personality and the space around him, supported by his large brown eyes. How I know this is because, I was his school bus driver ( Mr. Mike ) for the 2009-2010 shool year at Holbrook Elementary, Grand Ledge. Always polite and set good examples for the other children on the bus. Being a bus driver, I always wish that I could somehow follow my students through the years and watch them become their full greatness. Cayden has left his mark in my memory, and I know he is standing at the Right Hand of God watching over us all. Thanks be to GOD.

As the snow begins to thaw from a long, snowy winter, this morning I was walking through our backyard, just north of Boston, Massachusetts. I came across a picture of a beautiful little boy, attached to a blue balloon. The message, “In loving Memory of Cayden J Sellers” inscribed by hand on the back. Your message reaches long and far, as a reflection of your love. Please accept heartfelt sympathy from Massachusetts. We will carry Cayden in our prayers.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You met with my mom last night when you were both attending a counseling session. This is so tragic and frustrating to think that medical care was not provided in a more thorough way. My heart goes out to you and your family.
