Calvin Jones

Age 58, passed away January 20, 2014.  He was born November 2, 1955, in Caruthersville, MO, and graduated from Sexton High School.  Calvin worked at General Motors, and retired as a health care technician from Tender Care South and Burcham Hills. He attended New Life Community C.O.G.I.C. and gave his life to Christ in August of 2013. Calvin enjoyed billiards and gardening.

Surviving are:  his wife, Carla; stepchildren, Joseph (Genell) and Naomi; grandchildren, Tamya and Terry; 5 brothers, Erving, Anthony (Angela), Gilbert (DeeDee), Otis and Elton; 3 sisters, Patricia Simmons, Fannie Jones and Odessa Jones; special nieces, Antoinette Jones and Meneriva Smith; special nephew, Christopher Ethridge; and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Jones Young, and 2 brothers, Elmer “Jake” Jones and Willie Jones.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Reachout Christian Center Church, 5628 Wise Rd., Lansing (Pastor David Foreman), with Elder Ricky Smith, Sr., officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday.  Family Hour will be at the church from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Breslin Cancer Center in memory of Calvin Jones.

uncle calvin you were the first person to take me and damara to Michigan adventures I really enjoyed that day and you have always put a smile on my face love always your niece deasia Johnson rest in peace
