I recently read with shock and surprise about the passing of Bruce. It is a sad day when someone as good as Bruce is taken from us. I have known Bruce for many years – many of them when I was a member of #33 F&AM. I have known many Masons who say that they are Masons but whose actions speak otherwise. Bruce was not one of these. Rather, Bruce was someone whose actions and works were true Masonic exemplars. To me, he was the gold standard of Masonry. More than that, he was someone that I could talk with and ask questions of when I was in the East.

I have since left Masonry but I have never forgotten Bruce. He was always that person that I could point to and say – that is what a man should be like.

It is said that no man is ever forgotten whose name is spoken. With that in mind, I say “Bruce Pettit” – may we never forget you.
