Bette M. Bertochini

Bette M. Bertochini, after a life in service to God, passed away on December 28, 2014.  Born October 8, 1929, in Muskegon, Michigan, she was the child of Fred and Mabel Brown.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- & great-great-grandmother.  She married Gilbert James Bertocchini on August 8, 1948.  Their love story began when they met at Andrews University in 1947 and spanned more than sixty-six years.  Their life together was one of abiding love, travel and adventures that most people can only dream about.

As a missionary’s wife she lived with her family in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore where she taught school and became conversant in the Chinese language.  She took every opportunity she could to travel. One of her goals was to go to every country in the world and she came very close to fulfilling it. She thoroughly enjoyed recounting the adventures she experienced as she went from place to place.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert James Bertochini. She is survived by her sisters: Katherine Gorman and stepsister: Virginia Shull & husband Vivion Shull; brother-in-law: George Bertocchini & wife Wilda Bertocchini; sons: Bill & wife Brenda, John & wife Francisca; grandchildren: Rhonda Forcum & husband Chris, Michelle Donaldson & husband Zack, Melinda Spradley, Scot Bertocchini, and Heather Meitzler & husband Joe;  great-grandchildren: Kayla Blackburn, Anjelica Forcum, Billy Anderson, Cody Anderson, Tiffany Meitzler, William Forcum, Taylor Meitzler, Kelsey Forcum and Victoria Meitzler;  great-great-grandsons: Kaiden, Dylan and Kaidyn; and adopted daughter: Melinda Li.

There will be no service. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Mrs. Bertochini was always smiling! I always thought of her as a beautiful, peaceful lady who loved life. Heaven will be sweeter knowing she will be there!
