Barbara M. Georgi

Barbara, daughter of Frank and Blanche Meier, born on February 25, 1929 in Detroit, MI passed away peacefully at home after having the opportunity to spend Christmas with her family.

Barbara was married, for over 60 years, to Robert L. Georgi. They had 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She will be remembered as one of the kindest, most beautiful souls to bless our lives.

Barb was a gracious woman who welcomed people into her life and made them feel special. She married Bob on October 7, 1950 and started their family shortly after. She was devoted to her faith and was an incredible wife, mother and friend. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family and friends.

She was a graduate of The University of Liggett, a founding member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, and was active in many charitable organizations throughout her life.

Barb is survived by her grateful children, Bob (Konnie) Georgi, Jacque (Dirk) Kolb, John (Mimi) Georgi, Jeanne (Paul) Tomasek, Jim (Laurah) Georgi; grandchildren, Kori, Kristi, Andy, Sam, Giana, Lexie, John, Julianne, and Jack; and great-grandson, Sean. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, brothers Frank and Don Meier, and sister Jeanne Kavenaugh.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. John P. Klein at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
