Alexander “Al” Ryan Amber

Beloved son of Benjamin L. & Rachael D. Amber and beloved brother of Troy L. (Carole) Amber & Jacob E. Amber, passed way June 6, 2012, at the age of 26. Al was born April 30, 1986, in Lansing, Michigan.

As an accomplished world traveler, Al was passionate about healing the world and was looking forward to an advanced degree and career in peace education and sustainability. Al taught English to students at Assumption University of Thailand until December, 2011 and received his Gran Diplome De Cuisine/Patisserie from Le Cordon Bleu (Paris) culinary school in 2009. He graduated from DePaul University in 2008 and East Lansing High School in 2004.

Al loved music and in his spare time taught himself to play classical piano, with a particular passion for Chopin. Al was a caring brother, son, uncle and a dear friend to many. He was kind, generous and reserved. He will be missed by more people than he could imagine.

Dear Rachel and Ben,
You are in our thoughts and prayers. We remember many happy times with you–cub scouts, and birthday parties–times at the school. We are in Colorado and can’t be with you. Words are not adequate to heal your loss. Know you are not alone in your grief. Even though time and space have taken us far from the happy times we shared with you and your family in East Lansing those times are in our hearts and minds. May you find strength to continue on and may you find peace in the days ahead.

Dear Ben and Racheal,
Please accept our condolences on the death of your dear son Al. On behalf of all the Fedewa Brothers; Bill, Don, Dick, Stan, Bob and Ben we wish to express our sorrow.
You spoke frequently and lovingly about Al as we traveled about the State. It would be difficult to know how much you will miss him. We can take hope in knowing that one day you will be reuinted with him. But in meantime trust that all will finallly be well. If there is anything we can do please call. Don.

Dear Ben and Rachael, We are very saddened to hear about the loss of your son, Alex. We knew him only as Alex and remember him at his bar mitzvah. It sounds like he accomplished much in his very short life. Both of you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May God grant you peace and comfort at this difficult time.

I can hear Alex’s voice in my mind right now, in our living room in Grand Ledge. He’s embedded in my mind. He’s in my father’s mind, with whom he spent so much time and made so happy. I think Alex is here in us.

Dear Rachel and Ben,
There are not sufficient words to express our sadness in your family’s loss of Al. He was truly one of the great young men in this world. His love for his family and dedication to caring for others will be remembered always.
The pride you had for him could be heard in your voices last summer as you described his work in Thailand. You have raised a fine, fine family.
Our hearts go out to you now, and we will keep you in our prayers.
