Lawrence James Otis

Age 79, of Lansing, passed away May 24, 2012. He was born March 21, 1933 in Traverse City, MI, to the late John and Lena Marie Otis-Cobb.

Larry moved to Lansing in 1943 and graduated in 1951 from Lansing Eastern High School. He served with the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Diamond Reo Truck and Michigan Dept. of Transportation from which he retired. He was a member of SERA, Lansing Eagles #1039, Harrison Moose Lodge #2235, Capital City Old Car Club and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Calvin Otis II; wife, Audrey Joy Otis; and son Jeffery Lawrence Otis. He is survived by his son, David John Otis; daughter, Lisa Sue (Jason) Hall; and grandchildren, Devan and Skylar Hall. Larry also leaves behind personal friend Wilma Cook, and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 218 W. Ottawa, Lansing, MI. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Larry will be missed on my Branson trips. He will also be missed at the Jamboree’s in Charlotte at the Senior Center. It was a nice man to talk to and full of fun.

We will miss you Larry…always positive and greeting us with a smile. Hugh and I have ushered with you many, many years at St Paul’s and will cherish those memories.
