Frederick Albert Kane

Of Haslett, Michigan, born January 2, 1936 in Lansing, Michigan son of the late Howard and Emily (Brandel) Kane, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at age 76. He graduated from Resurrection High School in 1953. On June 29, 1957 Frederick married Marjorie L. (Hause) Kane and they enjoyed 54 ½ years of marriage until her death on March 27, 2012. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, Washington from 1959-1961. Frederick retired from computer operations at General Motors and E.D.S. in 1993 following 40 years of service. He was a member of General Motors Lansing Salaried Retirees Club where he served on the Board of Directors and as Membership Secretary. He enjoyed both bowling and golfing for many years.

Survivors include 4 beautiful children, James (Susan Kim) Kane of Lansing, Thomas (Stacy) Kane of Williamston, Tracey (Frank, III) Frati of Hot Springs Village, AR., and Suzzanne (Rick Conner) Kane of Lansing; 7 grandchildren, Frankie IV, Ian, Eric, Harley, Emma, Allison, and Ashleigh; loving sister, Jacqueline (Merle) Barnhart of Lansing; brother-in-law, Russell (Sherri) Hause of Grand Haven; sisters-in-law, Betty (Kenneth) Gearhart of Waverly, IL, and Grace (Harry) Thompson of Charlotte; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews as well as his dog, Daisy Mae.

Fred’s family would like to express a special thank you to all of the members of Sparrow Hospital – 7 Foster and the W.C.C.U. units whom cared for him, along with a special thank you to Dr. Khan; nurses and caregivers, Donna, Tonya, Mallory, Jon, Lei, and Lily as well as palliative care nurses Meredith and Sue.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Anthony Strouse celebrating. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:30 p.m.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Fred’s memory to the Capital Area Humane Society or the American Heart Association.

Our sympathy and prayers go out to the family of Fred Kane. Will miss Fred’s welcome smile at our summer golf outings. He was a fine gentleman and kind wecoming friend. He will truely be missed.

Sorry for the Kane family. I am a high school friend of Tom’s and Mr. Kane and my father went to high school together. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
