Grace Griffin

Grace Griffin, our beloved Gracie, died on June 25, 2011 in the loving care of Mother Teresa House.  She was born May 15, 1934 in Denver, Colorado, and worked in statistics and accounts for AT&T.  She was married to Dr. Richard Griffin for 54 years.  The Griffins moved to East Lansing in 1976 from Kansas City, MO.  Grace served many years with Pregnancy Services of Greater Lansing.  In addition to countless acts of charity for her friends and community, her Sunday dinners are most fondly remembered by her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Grace is survived by her husband, daughter, Kathy and son, Rick.  Her true sweetness, kindness, and goodness survive in the memory of all who knew her.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Mark Inglot at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing.  The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St. on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the Rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to The Justice in Mental Health Organization, 520 Cherry St., Lansing, MI 48933, The Franciscan Friars of Atonement, P.O. Box 301, Garrison, NY 10524-0301, or Mother Teresa House, P.O. Box 13004, Lansing, MI 48901.

Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you Grandma. I miss you so so much…Out of all the things you taught me, you never taught me how to live without you. Even though it’s been over a year now, I am still trying to learn and figure out how to do just that. I managed alright with Grandpa being around, but now that he is with you, not only am I still learning to live without you physically here, I also have to learn to live without him. It sucks sometimes, but I know your watching over us. You were one of, if not the strongest, most kindhearted, giving person I know. I miss you!
