Ashely Nicole BaryamesAshley Nicole Baryames passed away on November 14, 2016, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was born in Lansing, on September 7, 1984, and grew up in East Lansing. Ashley’s childhood summers were spent with her family in northern Michigan, watching 4th of July fireworks, searching for Petoskey stones on Lake Michigan, and after dinner trips to town for ice cream. When she grew older, she worked at the family business, Baryames Cleaners, where she made many friends. As an adult, Ashley wanted to become a social worker. In 2013, she earned a master’s degree in social work from Michigan State University. She planned to use her degree to help people, fighting with her, on the opioid addiction battlefield.

Ashley was adored and loved by her father, Art, and his wife, Katy Baryames; her brother, Chuck Baryames; her mother, Cindy Baryames; her grandmother, Rosalie Baryames; her aunt and uncle, Cindy and Tracy Basing and their sons, Ted and Alex; her aunt and uncle, Angie and Dave King and their sons, Luke and Adam; her aunt and uncle, Katina Baryames and Steve Lowe; and her aunt and uncle, Bonnie and George Gwozdecky and their daughter, Adrienne.

Ashley was laid to rest at Lansing’s Evergreen Cemetery near her beloved Papou, Charles Baryames, with Father Mark Sietsema of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Ashley’s memory to Dawn Farm – Spera Recovery Center, 502 W. Huron, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 or the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1701 E. Saginaw St., Lansing, MI 48912.
