Patricia A. DeMaagd

Age 90, passed away April 29, 2016, at Hospice of Lansing, Stoneleigh Residence, where she had resided for several months.  Pat was born to Charles and Maurcine Meanwell on September 16, 1925, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  She grew up in Ann Arbor and attended Ann Arbor High School, and then University of Michigan, where she majored in Speech and Language Pathology.  She married Don DeMaagd, and, after her education, Pat worked as a Speech/Language Therapist in many schools, including Portage, Grand Rapids and Ingham Intermediate Schools, serving primarily the Waverly and Holt school districts.  She always maintained her pride in the University of Michigan as well as her professional attitude toward children with disabilities.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann DeMaagd of East Lansing, brother-in-law Bruce Ketchum, and her friends, The Ladies Who Dine.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Kay DeMaagd; her parents; her sister, Nancy Jean Ketchum; and her former husband.

Her daughter wishes to express a special “thank you” to the staff at Stoneleigh Residence for the care they provided to her mother and the compassion they showed.

There will be no service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Speech and Hearing Association (MSHA).
