Elizabeth Marie “Betty” (Preuss) (Siegrist) Keitchen

Betty, age 96, daughter of Frank and Hannah Preuss, died November 28, 2015. Our wonderful mom, grandmother and great-grandmother will be greatly missed. She was the youngest of 13 brothers and sisters who all preceded her in death.

Betty was a lifetime member of both Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Lansing Liederkranz Club. She retired from the State of Michigan after 30 years of dedicated service. Betty’s family would like to thank Great Lakes Caring Hospice of St. Johns for their wonderful caregivers.

She is survived by her daughter, Johannah (Michael) House; son, Robert J. (Carol Schieding) Siegrist, Jr.; grandchildren, Kathiann House, LeAnn (Paul) Cottrell, Kelly S. Siegrist, Robert J. Siegrist III and Ann J. Siegrist; and great-grandchildren, Jack Nelson Cottrell and Johannah Cottrell.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Siegrist and Russ Keitchen.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2015, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church or to Great Lakes Caring Hospice.

My memory of Betty was she was our Santa Claus for the ( The Martins girls). We would leave cookies and milk and a note for Santa. Betty always wrote us girls a note. One that I rememberd was she said that if (Otto) our German Shorthair) was bigger he would be Santa’s reindeer. Always coming over for coffee. She was one hell of a good neighbor. RIP Betty.

Dear Butchie and Joie, I am so sorry to hear the passing of your Mom, you were so lucky to have her for 96 years. She will live on in your hearts, Mom and Dad passed 15 years ago and I think of them every day still.
One thing I will always remember about Betty is, she would come over to our house and Mom would give her a perm, after mom took the rods out your Mom would go in the bathroom, look in the mirror and scream,” Oh My Gosh it to curly!” us girls would each time wait for her to scream and we would giggle.
I don’t know what perfume she wore but she would always smell so good, I think it may have been Intament, not sure of the spelling. Funny what we remember of good friends from the past
She was a very dear person and will be missed. Take care Love Connie
