Ida Ruth (Schneider) Wood

Ida Ruth (Schneider) Wood, a longtime resident of Lansing, passed away surrounded by her loving family, in West Branch, Michigan. She was born in Lansing to William and Olive (Cunningham) Schneider.  She lived in Lansing for most of her life.  She moved to West Branch, Michigan in 2010, due to health issues.  This allowed her to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.

She worked for the State of Michigan in the Treasury Department.  She was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary in Lansing.  She attended the Unity of Greater Lansing Church.  In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with her sisters. They visited many places along the way.  She also enjoyed playing Cribbage with her family.

She leaves behind a daughter, Linda Few, five granddaughters- Amy (Michael) Brissette, Marcella Few, Rebekah Brasseur, Carrie Few, Emily Few, and one grandson- William (Shelia) Few, 15 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Wood, her parents, William & Olive (Cunningham) Schneider, brothers George and William and sisters Mary, Arlene, and Doris.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Advantage of West Branch.
