Donna L. Demske

Donna Lucille Demske (Engelter/Smith), age 92, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away on August 1, 2015, with family by her side.  She was born in Albion, MI, on December 3, 1922, the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Weeks) Engelter.

Donna enjoyed spending time with her family, absolutely loved candy (especially chocolate) and ice cream, loved to dance (and she was very good at it) and was known for her cooking/baking (especially her awesome potato salad which was a big hit at all family gatherings).

Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Fred O. Smith (47 yrs)  and Frederick Demske (15 yrs); son, Jerry Smith; sister, Margaret (Bruce) Smith; and brothers, Wayne (Bethel) Engelter and Kenneth Engelter.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Judy (Richard) Mullen of Georgia and Diane (Jack) Luna of Lansing; 2 sons, Fred Smith of South Carolina and Kevin (Barbara) Smith of DeWitt; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marie Engelter; 2 very special nieces, Linda Clark and Karla (Bob) Harrington; and many other extended family.

Per her request, private graveside services have already taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800 Miami, FL 33131 or Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 3100 West Rd., Building 1, East Lansing, MI 48823 in memory of Donna L. Demske.

Mom, I miss you already! The last 4 years were very challenging for both of us and sometimes down right miserable but I always came back to make sure your needs and wants were met. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it the same way. You were apart of my daily routine and I now not only have a big hole in my daily routine but in my heart. We both hated that nursing home and I am very glad you are in heaven dancing with all our other family members. Enjoy every day up there, you certainly deserve to be there. Love you!
