Joseph Schlesinger was my major professor at Michigan State University. He was my mentor and had much to do with my career as a political science professor. He was very helpful and supportive in my efforts to develop a topic for my dissertation and eventually finish the dissertation. He was a professor who took a personal interest in me and in other students. He gave his time freely to develop students. In addition, he was a national leader in his research area. I will miss him.

Joseph Schlesinger was one of my mentors as a graduate student at Michigan State in the early 1970s. I took many a course from him during those years, and he was a member of my dissertation committee. He was a pillar in the department throughout that period. I admired his thoughtfulness and professionalism, and wide learning. I was fortunate to have encountered him at that time. I was sorry to hear of his passing. RIP
