Shirley J. Hurni

Age 91, of Mason, Michigan. A loving sister, mother, grandmother and longtime resident of the Mason area died Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the Holt Senior Care and Rehab Center. Shirley was born April 10, 1923 in Lansing, Michigan.

Shirley prided herself with a long working career and a strong work ethic.  She achieved several accomplished positions, learning and enjoying something from each.  She ended her career in 1987 after retiring from MSU as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Human Medicine.

She had several businesses through the years while also owning several rental properties. She also enjoyed bookkeeping, which she did as the treasurer for the Delhi Dems for many years.  It was her fondness of bookkeeping that kept her busy and her mind so sharp that she continued to work until the age of 89.

Shirley was preceded in death by her grandson Joss Hurni.  She is survived by her only son, Hal (Sam) Hurni of Holt, Michigan; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; plus a large extended family in California.

There will be no service. In Shirley’s memory donations can be made to McLaren Hospice. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
