Ralph E. Sorrell

Age 92 passed away, May 25, 2014 in Lansing. He was born May 1, 1922 in Middleton, Michigan to Ernest and Ethel Sorrell.

Ralph was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Motor Wheel Corp. after 31 years and he belonged to Local Union 182. Ralph led a very active life including sky diving, many church group activities, and enjoyed traveling.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 62 years Ruby; children: Laura Sorrell, Sherry (Chuck) Sorrell and Jerry (Bonnie) Wise; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lyle (Jeanie) Sorrell; a sister, Shirley Moyer; as well as many beloved extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Suzanne (Duane) Landon, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.

The funeral for Ralph will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment to follow in West Carmel Cemetery, Charlotte, MI. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, and also 1 hour prior to the service.  The family would like to express their gratitude to Sheri and Chris of Whole Health Homecare for their compassion and excellent care.  In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Capital Area Humane Society.

I am sorry to hear about Ralph’s passing. He was always a kind and friendly patient. I took care of his hearing aids many times over the years. May the Lord comfort you all thru this time.
