Mary Louise Bostick McKay

Mary went to be with The Lord on Saturday February 16, 2013, age 86.  She was of Haslett, MI. She was born April 29, 1926 in Ft. Wayne, IN, to Ruth Marie (née Kover) and William Edward Bostick. In 1947, she married Edward D. McKay, and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.  She graduated from Indiana University in 1948 with a bachelor’s degree in Art and English and she taught English at Robinson High School and art at Lincoln Trail Community College, Robinson, IL.

Mary is survived by her sons E. Donald (Linda) McKay, Champaign, IL, William K. (Jill) McKay, Haslett, MI, and Richard H. (Dale) McKay, Edmond, OK, and by six grandchildren, Cathy (Eric) Stickels, Brian (Courtney) McKay, Allison (Blake) Poindexter, Ian McKay, Elizabeth McKay, and Jake McKay, and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Samuel Edmund Williamson, brother William Arthur Bostick and stepbrothers John Williamson and George Williamson.

Mary will be remembered by many for her love of family, her art and style, her teaching, her green thumb and beautiful voice, her smile and devotion to friends.  She was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter BM, East Lansing and a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, East Lansing.  The family would like to warmly thank the staff of Stoneleigh Residence, Hospice of Lansing, to which memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1315 Abbot Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823 with the Rev. Margie L. Osborn officiating.

Dear Ed and Family – Our hearts and prayers go out to you all during this time of loss. Mary was really a joy to care for and we miss her and you all very much. Thank you for sharing these past few months with us. Peace be with you and God Bless!!

My sincere sympathy goes out to the McKay family. Be assured of God’s promise that he will comfort you during your grief (2 Corinthians 1:3,4). Jesus foretold a hope that one day we will see our loved ones again happy and healthy, at John 5:28, 29 he said, “all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” I pray this comforts you as it has our family during loss.
