William J. Nichols

Age 86, of Holt, MI, passed away May 14, 2017.  He was born September 4, 1930, in Lansing, MI, to Leonard Nichols and Nellie (Rennaker) Nichols Humphrey.  William was an auto mechanic all of his life.  He retired from Bud Kouts after 40 years of service.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on cars in his free time.  William could be seen watching NASCAR, the Tigers playing baseball or building modifier racing cars.  He looked forward to spending time at the family cabin with his brothers, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family members.

William is survived by a sister-in-law June Nichols Dingler; nieces: Mary Hulet, Verna Knight, Cheryl McGinnis and Cindy Eaton; nephews: Mike Nichols, Robert Linderman and Thomas Linderman; grandchildren; several great-nieces and nephews; and best buddy, Dick Campbell.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude; his mother and father; his stepfather, John Humphrey; and brothers: Eugene Nichols and Robert Nichols.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.  His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holt Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center.  Online condolences may be left for his family at www.EstesLeadley.com
