Ward Russell "Russ" Owen

Age 83, passed away March 24, 2012.  He was born November 5, 1928, in Sidney, OH, a son of Frank and Elsie Owen.  Russ was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  He worked at REO for 25 years, then at GM for 17 years, retiring in 1992.  He was a member of the American Legion, and loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his pets.  Russ also enjoyed dancing and spending time boating at the lake.

Surviving are:  his wife of 59 years, Mary; son, Mike Owen of Lansing; daughter, Shari (Richard) Walicki of Jackson; 6 grandchildren, Kris (Beth) Doerr, Cherraline Doerr, Staccie (Joey) Warren, Troy Miller, Rich (Kate) Walicki, Kristen (Michael) Salata; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Frank (Eileen) Owen of Schersville, IN; 2 sisters, Doris Matrau of Elsie and Rita Decker of Lansing, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with interment to follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society.  Russ, Dad, Grandpa, Be-Pa-Great, will be forever missed!

My condolences to you Mary as well as Mike and Shari. We were neighbors back in the 50’s and 60’s. You and Russ were the best neighbors ever and those times will never be forgotten.
