Shirley C. Lorencen

Age 81, of Lansing, passed away December 17, 2010. She was born on August 4, 1929 in Big Rapids, MI the daughter of William and Inez Wallace.

Shirley was blessed with a sweet disposition and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was the matriarch of her family and her strong moral compass was a guide and model for all to follow. She adored her grandchildren and her dream was to make sure they all received a college education. Shirley attended Central Michigan University and taught high school. She loved spending time with her family. She planned many wonderful vacations so everyone could be together.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Max Lorencen and daughter-in-law Christina Lorencen. She is survived by her children, Mark Lorencen, Sharon (Stanley) Pastuszka, Carol Schaefer, Michael (Jacqueline) Lorencen and LeeAnn (Gilbert) LeBron; grandchildren, Jordan (Amanda) Moellendick, Aaron Moellendick, Max Schaefer, Samantha Schaefer, Jack Schaefer and Arthur Lorencen; 1 great-grandchild; sisters, Ruth (Al) Kempf and Billie (Beryl) Barto; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church of Lansing with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery S. O’Neill officiating. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Monday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sparrow Regional Cancer Center, 1215 E.
