Julianna M.H. Archer

Julianna Magdolna Husovszky Archer, age 85, of Farmington Hills, MI, died in West Bloomfield on November 19, 2010.  She was born on June 1, 1925 in Eger, Hungary at Szepassonyvolgy (The Valley of the Fair Woman) to Kalman Husovszky and Iren Moldovan Husovszky.

Mrs. Archer was educated under the direction of the Archbishopric of Eger, and the Sisters of Loreto (angolkissassonk-English Young Ladies Lyceum).  Following the rigorous standards for teacher training established by Venerable Mary Ward.  Her final teacher certification was from the Ursuline Sisters at Kisvarda, Hungary.

In 1948 with her husband Laszlo Domonkos-Mohay and their five-month-old daughter Judith, fled from Soviet occupation, escaping across the Iron Curtain to Austria, and finally to the United States in 1950.  For the rest of her life, Mrs. Archer was grateful and proud to be an American Citizen.

A longtime resident, with her beloved husband Armor A. Archer of Dearborn Heights.  Mrs. Archer’s professional associations included the Detroit Engineering Society, Dearborn Inn, Bedazzled, Grosse Pointe Hunt Club, and as proprietor of Julianna’s Ladies Apparel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brother and husband. Survived to mourn her loss are her daughter and husband, Judith and Charles Filice; granddaughters, Maria Filice, Rebecca Filice, Julianna Filice-Hanna and husband Ryan Hanna; great-grandsons, Charles and Owen Hanna; son, Christopher Archer and wife Deanna Kowalski; grandchildren, Maximilan and Brynn Archer; caring friends, Maggie and Marcel Thirman; loyal devoted companion, Charles Randles; and many loving family members in America and Europe.  Courage and strength of will were the hallmark of her character.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, December 11, 2010 at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour, Lansing, with Msgr. Steven J. Raica as Celebrant.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, or to the Capital Area Humane Society.  Arrangements by Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
