Condolences to the family. Always had great conversations with Jack. Many years ago we were riding the bus together and found out we both worked in the same building. Soon discovered that Jack and my wife Gloria’s family attended the same church when they lived in Saginaw.

Jack and I remained good friends and neighbors even after I moved to Eaton Rapids from Woodgate Drive 2 yrs ago. We, (the Larson Family and the DeFords) lived two houses apart for more than 50 yrs. each and helped each other out a lot. Jack LOVED to ride around on his lawnmower and would often come down to my place and mow my lawn (…and part of the school property) just because he felt like it. He loved doing nice things for people in the community, and his musical talent was enjoyed by many. I will truly, truly miss my good buddy.

Jack went to South School with Carolyn and I starting in Kdg. We have been friends ever since for 71 years. He was the most loyal Arthur Hill graduate ….MSU too. Jack was a great athlete, good musician and a kind and special friend to all.

The Larson famity came to know my father (George Bortz) as Mike – Sue & Eric had him as a Band Director at Gardner and Harry Hill. My Dad loved Jack because he was active and involved with the his kid’s as they went through Jr High and High School plus he was an EX musician himself and knew the work it took to be ‘at the top’ of your game. What a great charismatic man who you never missed because of standing heads and shoulders above us all – always taking the time to talk with everyone. The Bortz family sends our condolences to The Larson’s and know that any tears you may now shead are GOOD tears remembering all the wonderful memories of your father.
