Hildegard G. Leitz

Hildegard Gertrude Leitz passed away October 8, 2012, at her home of 64 years in Eaton Rapids. The Lord called her to her final resting place after enduring many ailments: pancreatic cancer, strokes, blood clots and Alzheimer’s Dementia.

Hildegard was born June 18, 1923, in Lansing, to the late Henry and Olga Schultz, the oldest of four children. She met the love of her life, Karl J. Leitz, Jr. in 1947. They were united in marriage October 16, 1948. Their union blessed them with four children, around which her life was centered.

First and foremost, Hildegard was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker who enjoyed baking and arts and crafts. She was a faithful lifetime member of Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Karl; children, Linda Wildflower of Hawaii, Daniel (Diana) Leitz of Wisconsin and Trudy Leitz of Holt; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Herbert Schultz of Lansing; sisters, Emma Hepfer of Williamston and Helene Fowler of Dimondale; and many nieces and nephews. Her son Kevin Leitz preceded her in death in 2004.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1001 N. Capitol, Lansing, with the Rev. Paul J. Lindloff officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

My thoughts and prayers are with You Uncle Karl, Danny and Trudy and Linda, I will miss Aunt Hilda (especially her brown bread!). Love to you all.

I was blessed to have known her sweet smile and the support of her faithful and loving family.
