Doris Grant

Age 91, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away November 20, 2014. She was born August 29, 1923, in Flint, MI, daughter of the late Frank and Leda Robinson.

Doris was raised on a farm in Evart, MI (Sylvan Twp.) and graduated from Marion High School. She proudly served in the U.S. Navy Waves from 1944-1946 serving at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA. Doris married Richard Grant, Sr. in 1947 and the two of them moved to Lansing. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lansing and she enjoyed being outdoors, walking, gardening and working in her yard. She also liked to watch sports on television.

She is survived by her children, Richard “Rocky” (Rhonda) Grant and Sandy (Tom) Day; grandchildren, Chad (Emily) Grant, Sean (Kate) Grant, Jared Grant, Kristin (Patrick) Curran and Jason Day; great-grandsons, Nolan and Aiden Curran; sisters, Jane Anderson and Dolores Robinson; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel immediately followed by a procession to the grave at Deepdale Memorial Gardens for the Rite of Committal and military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.
