Doris Anne Lorencen

Lansing, Michigan

Doris was born March 6, 1933, in Lansing, Michigan, daughter of the late Josephine and Jonas Lorencen. She passed away on February 12, 2015, at the age of 81.

Doris graduated from J.W. Sexton in 1951. Following her graduation she worked at Sexton for 3 ½ years. She then went to work for the State of Michigan Department of Transportation and retired after 30 years of dedicated service.

Doris was the heart and soul of the Lorencen family, a beloved neighbor, and faithful servant for many years of Holy Cross Church and later at St. Mary Cathedral. She traveled the world over with her sisters, yet her home was the place to be on Saturday nights. Doris was the family compass, always loving, never judging, and ever forgiving. Her quick wit and zest for life will be carried on by her friends and family.

Doris is survived by her sister, Margaret Brockwell and brothers Ronald, Richard (Sue) and Gerald (Dee) Lorencen. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Robert, Edward, George, William and Max, and by sister Maxine Hunt.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at St. Andrew Dung-Lac Catholic Church (formerly Holy Cross Church), 1611 W. Oakland Ave., Lansing, MI. The Rite of Committal will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with a Vigil Service held at 7:30 p.m. In loving memory of Doris, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.

I am so sorry for your loss. I did not know your sister well but she was one of the nicest people to attend the bingo sessions at Holy Cross. She was always friendly and smiling. I looked forward to seeing her every week. May God Bless you all.
