Delphine Rambat (née Majarov)

9/13/26-10/14/12

Delphine Rambat passed away peacefully, after a long illness, with her family at her side on Sunday, October 14. Delphine is survived by Julius M. Rambat, her beloved husband of 61 years, her children: Jadel (Paul) Lerner, Rayna (Doug) Burns, Gregory Rambat (Gina) and Dara (Jamie) Cockrum; her grandchildren: Melissa and Alexandra Lerner, Ariana and Conor Burns, Michael and Nicholas Rambat and Jordan and Benjamin Cockrum. She was sister-in-law to Josephine (Rambat) and Peter Sredich and was predeceased by her sister-in-law Rose.  She leaves many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Delphine, originally of Detroit, made her home in Lansing and worked by her husband’s side first at Milo’s Restaurant and Bar on Olds Avenue and later at Milo’s Taverna, a restaurant Julius and she built after Milo’s closed in 1973. In 1988 she and Julius moved to Bradenton, Florida where they learned to relax and enjoy life, and made many new friends. In the summer of 2008 Delphine and Julius moved to Independence Village in Grand Ledge where they resided until April of this year when Dara and Jamie opened their home to provide loving, extended care to accommodate their needs.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, October 19, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Fr. Christopher Rozdilski officiating.  Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, where the Panakhida service will be held at 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice of Canton, Michigan; American Heart Association, Macular Degeneration Research or St. Andrew Orthodox Catholic Church.

What a blessing Bubbie was to me! I am so happy I had the privilege of caring for her for a brief period and getting to know her through the Cockrum family. I know you will all miss her, but be at peace, we will see her again! Love, hugs, kisses and prayers from the Oddinos!

Dear Kumovi,
We so sorry we cannot be with you this weekend. Our prayers are with Kum Julius and you all.

Your mom was such an inspiration to us when we were all growing up.
Would love to see the movies you have with your dad and mom and Swats and Delores. Wow did those guys know how to have fun!

At the Serbian Basketball Tournement dinner this past summer held in Indiana they had a large group of young men and women Kolo dancing their hearts out. We don’t often all go these events together, and I turned to Laura who was in town from Florida and whispered, “These guys are no match for Kuma Delphine” She agreed. What a lady!
Love you all, Steven, Laura, Mark and Michael.

Our prayers and thoughts are with Jadel, Greg, Rayna, Dara, and your families.
We feel much honored to have had a chance to know such a wonderful person.
The way she extended her welcoming and accepting hand to us will be eternally appreciated.
When I think of Delphine I think of positive energy, optimism, and kindness.
She was one of those people who make the World a better place.
We will never forget her and her kindness to us.
May she rest in peace and may God bless her soul in Heaven.
We are praying for her and the rest of the family in this difficult time.
