Debra Ann Garza

Debra Ann Garza was born in Tulare, California on December 22, 1961. She went home to be with the Lord September 18, 2012. Debbie was known to many by the nickname Bubby given to her by her nephew Jacob Ford. She grew up in Lansing MI, graduated from J.W. Sexton high school, and served in the United States Air Force.

She leaves behind her parents Rev’s Ramon and Esther Garza, Brother Ray Garza and family, Sister Melanie Ford and family, and her three sons, Jason Alan Thomas, Matthew Ramon Thomas and Andrew Lloyd Gale, as well as her special nephew Jacob Ramon Ford who she considered one of her boys as well as her beloved Chihuahua, lola-belle.

There are several young men and women who considered her a second mother as well. Debbie was passionate about photography and was an avid collector of Betty Boop memorabilia. She had an incredible sense of humor and loved to laugh. Debbie loved nothing better than hosting family dinners and watching classic films. She was a living example of God’s love to many, and she was often called on to pray for those with a need. She was on loan to us for 50 wonderful years and will be missed by many. Her time here may have been short but the legacy she leaves behind is great.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2012, at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church, 2202 Donora Street, Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

The family has set up a memorial fund to help offset the costs of the funeral. If you would like to make a donation please contact Ray Garza at 517.643.4241 or by email at raygarza45@aol.com

So sorry to hear this. She was a sweet, friendly girl. I went to school with Debbie at Northwestern through Sexton, and hung out with Lamar, Scott and Ray and the rest on Delta Street so long ago. Thoughts with Ray and the family.
Tim.
