David E. Kenyon

Bath, Michigan

David Kenyon was born on November 6, 1937. He passed on February 28, 2015. He was born in Vernon, Michigan, the eldest of three sons born to Russell and Rose Kenyon. He met his wife of 57 years, Kay Senter, at Dearborn High School. They married in 1957. He attended LaSalle College in Philadelphia. David was formerly of Lansing, MI.

David and Kay started their family in New Jersey, before moving to Michigan to join his father and brother in business. David represented Data Supplies Company in the greater Lansing area where he developed many business relationships and lifelong friendships. David was predeceased by his brother Tom. He is survived by his brother, Edward; his wife, Kay; four children, David (Julie), Wendy, Kris (Scott) Fisher, Jeff (Vincent); and 6 grandchildren, Jaymes, Joel (Kelly), Andrew, Kara, Alexi and Karly. David was thrilled to be a great-grandfather to Olive.

David was an avid reader, moviegoer, and sports fan. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s athletic events and occasionally refereeing from the sidelines. He was faithful to the politics on Fox News but absolutely nothing compared to the passion he felt for his beloved Wolverines especially on Fall Saturdays.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in East Lansing, Michigan. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Thursday, and also at the church on Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project. Online condolences may be left for David’s family at www.EstesLeadley.com.

Dear Kay and family,
I was so sorry to hear about David, and send my deepest sympathy to all of you. I feel lucky to have seen David at those last family reunions, and on one or two occasions when I managed to get back to Michigan. David was always a solid presence at these gatherings – the first of our generation of Kenyons, an honored spot indeed.

I will always remember my cousin David, a guy we all admired.

With loving thoughts, Amy

Dear Kay and family,
So very sorry to learn of David’s passing. My deepest sympathy to you all.
David was my older cousin and as a kid, at the summer Kenyon reunions, I always wanted to be on his team for the family softball game. Those games were fun (and competitive) to be sure! I always remember David’s enthusiasm and encouragement.

My thoughts are with you all.
Fred

Dear Kay and Family:
I am so sorry to hear of David’s passing. David
is with the Lord now and is looking down on you
and wants you all to be comforted. David was a
wonderful man and had the best sense of humor,
that is what I will miss most. David loved you all
very much and talked about his family all of the
time when he came to get his hair cut. May the
Lord keep you and bless you.

No words can express the loss I feel. David, our movie buddy, dinner partner. our Tiger and U of M cheer leader. There is now a void that cannot be filled. Only the memories of the wonderful times we shared will help us through this. Kay, we still have each other. Movies and dinner will continue. David: the compassionate care giver to Kay, the devoted father and husband and grandfather and great grandfather and friend. I will miss you. Betsy

Kay–My life will not be the same. I’ll not have someone to talk “Michigan” tell jokes to, be sarcastic… I grew to love you and Dave. The times we spent after the movies will never be forgotten. Telling jokes, discussing the “Blue” and exchanging sarcasm will be missed. It just won’t be the same. He was a good person who really did not have a mean bone in his body; and if you needed a friend to lean on–the name was Dave. I cannot express how badly I feel for you. I only know that I lost my best friend. It just won’t be the same. We love you, Jim

Dear Kay and family,
I am so sorry for your loss and my oldest cousins passing. I know he is missed dearly by all his family. How I remember David is his smile, he had such a warm and happy way about him. Always teasing and having fun. I always loved our family reunions. One of the many early memories of my cousin…. that stands out to me is yours and David’s wedding. My mom and dad took me and it was the very first wedding I ever attended and I will always remember how special it was. You were so beautiful and he was so handsome. You are in my thoughts and prayers, wishing you comfort and peace.
with much love, Pavanne

Hello,
I have been very close friends with Jeff for over 25 years and have heard so many wonderful things about David, Kay and the entire Kenyon family. I was deeply moved and saddened to hear the news of David’s passing and have been praying for David all week. I know that there are no words that can ease the pain from your loss but knowing Jeff and what a wonderful father David was, i am certain that he now in the living presence of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. And i’m certain that his spirit and memory will always live in his family, his friends and all who know him. My wife Jenny and two sons (Jack and Quinn) and i just finished saying a Rosary in honor of David. We will continue to keep you in our heart and in our prayers. And whenever we are together with Jeff and Vinny, we will celebrate David and thank God for all he shared with his family and all who knew him. With much love, Ziolkowski Family
