My sympathy to family and friends. Charlie was a good Army buddy in the 1950’s. He was recognized by his associates for his honorable and commendable military service to his country. Charles will be missed by many.

It’s April 14th and no one told me my “Uncle Charles” passed away this past January 17th.

I discovered Charles passing shortly after I tried telephoning him today to let him know I was mailing him a funny photograph taken of he (Charles) and my Mom (Charles sister Lucetta) back in 1943.

I am heart broken over the loss of my Uncle Charles, I have so many good memories of him.

He was always kind to me, once when I was 12-years-old (Fifty years ago), he let me drive his Cadillac for several hundred yards down a deserted country road and I lost control of the steering wheel and put us in a ditch. Uncle Charles just laughed and was never angry and forgave me quickly which was his nature.

Uncle Charles told me many great stories from his youth growing up in Strongs, Michigan located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and when he attended college at Bob Jones University in South Carolina before he transferred to the University of Dubuque in Iowa where he was a Thespian acting in several school plays.

I loved my Uncle Charles because was always kind to me, had a terrific sense of humor and we laughed a lot together over the telephone many times when I would call him from Arizona where I now live.

Uncle Charles was my mom’s “little brother.” I miss my mom so much and Uncle Charles was my last link to her (my mom’s) side of the family.

I hope to see you again in Heaven someday Uncle Charles, you were a sweet man who never harmed anyone.

I loved you and I am really going to miss you.

Your nephew,

Jim “Jimmy” Wehrheim
