Anna Marie Nardo

Anna Marie Nardo, beloved sister, aunt, and cousin, passed away April 11, 2012, after losing her long battle with cancer.  She left with the love of her family surrounding her.  Anna was born in Lansing, Michigan, May 22, 1929, the daughter of Agostino Nardo and Marie Delorata Colizzi Nardo.  She graduated from Lansing Eastern High School, and early on worked in her uncle’s store in Charlotte.  She later worked for the Michigan Liquor Control Commission, retiring as an Executive Secretary.  She had an artistic flair and enjoyed flowers, reading, crossword puzzles and gatherings with family and friends.

Anna was first diagnosed with cancer in 1995.  She suffered many reoccurrences with courage, never complaining, and with serene calmness.  Her jolly greeting and beautiful smile and laugh will be missed by all who knew her.  Her spirit lives on in all those she touched and she will never be far from our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents and dear sister Angeline “Angie” Abraham.  Surviving are her devoted brother Mike (Betty) Nardo, nieces Mary (Rick) Nardo Farris and Annette (Tony) Stravino, nephew John Abraham, Jr., and brother-in-law John Abraham, Sr. Grandniece and nephews include: Lauren Farris, Chris Farris, Peter Stravino and Michael Stravino.

Her funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 12th and again on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service.  Burial is to be at Evergreen Cemetery.

The family expresses deep appreciation to the staff at Ingham Regional Assisted Living and Burcham Hills, and the many nurses and doctors, including:  Dr. Lyons, Dr. Ali, Dr. Vanderjack and Dr. Perry.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
