Louis, of Lansing, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2010 at the age of 85 years.

Lou Woodruff was born July 23, 1925 in Belding, Michigan where he graduated from Belding High School, and then attended Central Michigan University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  He attended Columbia University in 1961 where he received his Master’s Degree in Guidance & Counseling.  Lou spent his life involved with teaching.  Lou taught school at Fredric, Merritt, White Cloud, Houghton Lake, Otto Jr. High in Lansing, and was the Special Education Coordinator at Eastern High School in Lansing, where he retired in 1982 after 26 years of teaching.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Joanne (Long) Woodruff, two sons Steven (Sandy) Woodruff and Michael J. Woodruff, and daughter Sheryl (Woodruff) Canavan.  Lou leaves behind three grandchildren: Jaime Canavan, Brandon Ostrander, and Aaron Woodruff.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank or Meals-on-Wheels.
