A graduate of Michigan State University and the Detroit College of Law, Doug served as Executive Director of Legal Aid of Central Michigan for 6 years and Director of Research and Development for the State Bar of Michigan for 26 years.

He frequently volunteered at the church and was always providing help, whether it was a ride to the grocery store or providing pro bono legal services, to anyone in need. Doug and his wife of 57 years, Beverly, are the parents of five children and thirteen grandchildren. Doug and Bev’s children are: Matthew (deceased, survived by his wife, Sue, children: Zachary, Natalie and Brittany); David (wife Emmalee, children: Joseph, Lydia, Madalyn and Noah); Jonathan (son, Max); Elizabeth (husband Rex, children: Paige and Maggie); Jason (wife Lisa, children: Haley, Morgan and Zoe). Doug was a loving husband and a dedicated father who led by example.
