Chester E. McDonald, Jr.

Age 75, of Bellevue, MI, passed away December 11, 2012. He was born July 10, 1937, in Johnstown, PA, to Chester, Sr. and Bertha McDonald.

Chester graduated from high school in 1956, and joined the Marines, where he served for 3 1/2 years. He then attended Miami University in Oxford, OH and graduated in 1963. After college he went through officers training with the Air Force and attained the rank of captain. Chester and Julie were married in 1964. He retired from the State of Michigan, enjoyed coin collecting and reading, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 48 ½ years, Julie; children, Barbara McDonald, Maureen McDonald, Michelle (Nicholas) Heiler, and Michael McDonald; grandchildren, Olivia McDonald, Alexandria McDonald, Nathan Heiler, Grant Heiler, and Gavin McDonald; 2 special cousins, Bonnie Massing and Rick Miller; several other cousins; and his beloved best friend, his dog Max. He was preceded in death by his parents and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

A memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to your local American Legion or V.F.W. Post or a charity of your choice.
