Robert J. Adams

Age 86, of Lansing, passed away September 20, 2012. He was born February 24, 1926, in Lansing, to Robert E. and Hilda Adams.

Robert graduated from Sexton High School in 1944, served in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines as a PBY4 mechanic, and graduated from MSU School of Engineering class of 1950. He served as president of Adams Tool and Engineering. Bob loved landscaping, trees and flowers, and traveling the world. He had a passion for words. He loved reading, and reciting poetry. He also enjoyed canoeing from Eaton Rapids to Muskegon with son John. He spent time volunteering as a Red Cross driver, took ultralight lessons and built a gyrocopter.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Christine; children, Russell (Melinda) Adams of Haslett, Laura Johnston of Fremont, and John (Sharman) Adams of Clarkston; grandchildren, Sarah Adams, Brooke (Nathan) Hart, Jacob Adams, Reece Adams, Keegan Adams, Callan Adams; great-granddaughter, Azalea Hart; sister, Carol Cummings; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Beverly Miske.

Cremation has taken place. His ashes will be released per Bob’s wishes. Please join us for a Celebration of Life brunch from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Coral Gables Restaurant in East Lansing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to an educational fund of your choice, the Veterans Administration, or to Sparrow Hospice Services.
