Age 86. He was born April 6, 1925, in Lansing, to William J. and Bessie (Baxter) Davis, and died April 3, 2012, at McLaren Greater Lansing. He graduated from J.W. Sexton High School, and served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946.
He married Marilyn Jean Sexton on April 10, 1947, and was employed by General Motors, Oldsmobile Division for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He enjoyed many summers at the cottage on Clifford Lake, and was also a partner in Marilyn’s antique business.
Surviving are: his loving wife of 65 years, Marilyn; daughters, Linda Craig of Laingsburg and Carole Anne Davis of Mason; 2 grandsons, Jonathan Craig of Grand Ledge and Ryan (Liza) Craig of Owosso; 5 grand daughters, Heather Craig, Jennifer Thompson, Julianne Craig, Sophia Marinez and Katie Jodway; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald (Patricia) Davis of DeWitt; niece, Cindy Puffenberger; and nephew, Jim Davis. He was preceded in death by his son, Kurt William Davis and grandson, Corey Craig.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment to follow in Reed Cemetery in Laingsburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association in memory of William Davis.
