Charles D. “Dan” Crane

Surrounded by his loving family, Dan passed away at his home on March 22, 2012, at age 73. He was born July 19, 1938, in Lansing, the son of the late John and Blanche Crane.

Dan retired from Michigan Bell as a cable repairman, following 32 years. His life’s work was the restoration of thirty-two Ford Model A’s. He was a founding member of both the Looking Glass A’s and the Mid-Michigan Model A Club. He was also a member of the Central Michigan T’s, Model A Ford Foundation International, M.T.F.C.I., M.A.R.C. and M.A.F.C.A. He also served as a mechanic for each of these clubs. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in East Lansing and was an avid collector of antique tractors.

He is survived by his wife, Gail; children, Timothy Crane, Karla (Neil) Winkel, Daniel (Shannon) Crane, Michael (Elizabeth) Shafer and Stephanie (Jared) Jordan; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Carol Eimer.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 800 Abbot Rd., East Lansing, with the Rev. Kit Carlson officiating. Interment will follow in Hurd Cemetery in DeWitt Township. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Model A Ford Foundation International or Hospice of Lansing.

Sorry to hear of Dan’s passing.
He gave me a lot of great memories.
