Dale R. Hamlin

Age 87, of Mason, passed away February 26, 2012. He was born in Holt, June 17, 1924, to Ralph and Hazel Hamlin.

Dale graduated from Holt High School in 1942.  He served 3 years during WWII as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in India, Ishim-Guam, and Okinawa as a supply-equipment specialist. Dale retired from U.S. Postal Service in 1984 after 24 years of service. He was the first mail “foot carrier” in Holt for 11 years during the early 1950s. Dale loved his flowers and feeding his birds 365 days a year, and loved driving about in his restored Model A Ford.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (Sayo) Hamlin and son, Michael. He is survived by daughters, Brenda Hamlin of Hazel Park, Cheryl (Kris) Mabie of Ovid, Pat (Jim) Tarrent of Chicopee, MA and Sheila Furlong of Lansing; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and sister, Marylou (Jim) Hoffman of Holt; 2 special nephews; a niece; and special loving caregiver, Maddie Denison.

We will love you and miss you forever. Rest in peace until we all meet again.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with Rev. Kirk R. Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society.
