Age 85, of Lansing, passed away on December 22, 2011.  She was born in Highland Park, MI on January 30, 1926.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and a former member of the Vestry.   She graduated from J. W. Sexton High School and Michigan State University.  Jan was a teacher and speech therapist for the Grand Ledge School District for 20 years, retiring in 1989.  She was a member of the MSU Choral Union, Lansing Women’s Club, a former secretary of the Town Hall Board, former member of the Lansing Power Squadron, was a Red Cross Volunteer, and a former member of the U & I Club.  While living in Tucson she was active in many community activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Eschbach in 1990 and her husband, Robert B. Edwards in 2000.  Surviving are:  2 sons, John (Linda) Eschbach of Lansing, Robert (Janet) Eschbach of East Lansing; daughter, Mary Eschbach and husband Reni Dengel of Cedar, MI; 6 grandchildren, Reni Dengel, Mary, John, and Robert Eschbach, Elizabeth and Kenneth Eschbach; 6 great-grandchildren, twins Alec and Gavin, Kellan McCord, Ethan Eschbach, Aiden McGibonney, Evan Parr; brother, Kenneth (Kathy) Young of Kalamazoo; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 218 W. Ottawa, Lansing, with The Rev. Dr. Carol Spangenberg officiating.  Interment will follow at Deepdale Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

    I enjoyed talking with Jan about MI, as my hometown is Traverse City, so we both enjoyed the area, as well as our home here in RCMHP in Tucson. She will be missed.
