Louis William "Lou" Duncan

Louis William “Lou” Duncan of Lansing died November 20, 2011 at the age of 77. He was born December 23, 1933 in Lansing. Lou graduated from Potterville High School in 1952, then attended Lansing Business University and Michigan State College. At Potterville High School he met Lois, his sweetheart and wife of 52 years, who preceded him in death in 2004.

Lou is dearly missed by his surviving daughter, Stacey, and son-in-law, J.P. Jackson. He was devoted to his son Brent (Valerie Kim), who died in 2007. Lou treasured his grandchildren Whitney (Rob) McFadden, Matt and Kaitlin Duncan, and his great-grandchildren Asher and Scarlet. He was employed by the Michigan Department of Treasury for 33 years before retiring as revenue commissioner in 1990. Lou enjoyed golf, antiquing, wood carving, making maple syrup with Brent at the family farm, gardening, and working in his greenhouse. Although dementia gradually took him from us, we will always remember how much he loved life and his devotion as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. We have been blessed to have him with us and we will always hold his memory in our hearts.

Lou’s family wishes to thank the staff at Burcham Hills Retirement Community and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their ongoing support during our difficult journey. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mr. Duncan.
