Robert W. “Bob” Baur

Age 83, of Lansing, passed away October 2, 2011. He was born February 26, 1928 in Lansing, the son of Les and Nellie Alford and Walter Baur.

Bob grew up in Lansing, moved to a farm in Potterville, and later moved back to Lansing. He served in the U.S. Army, 25th Infantry, during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Potterville Masonic Lodge #367. Bob worked for Oldsmobile, REA Express, J.W. Knapp Co., Fisher Body, and owned and operated Baur Traffic Service.

Bob and his wife, Alice, enjoyed dancing and playing cards with friends, traveling and family gatherings. His many interests included recycling, practical jokes and socializing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Alice; son, Jeffrey; and grandson, Doug Baur, Jr. He is survived by his children, Doug Baur, Mark (Deborah) Baur, Mary (Jon) Weinzweig, and Amy (Keith) Okan; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and brother, Bruce Baur.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 at First Christian Church, 1001 Chester Rd., Lansing, MI 48912. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday with a Masonic Service at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice Services.
