Helen P. Jackson

Helen P. (Dozier) Jackson, of Lansing, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 28, 2011 at the age of 83. Helen received an Associates Degree in Alcohol & Drug Counseling from Lansing Community College in the early 1970’s.  She worked tirelessly for 30 years at Capitol Hotel, Sears, then retiring from Sparrow Hospital after 15 years.  She accepted Christ into her life at an early age and absolutely loved to attend church when she was able.  Helen was a very proud and courageous woman.  She was a very outgoing, strong and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Michael Pettigrew (Clarissa), Rene Hester, Stephine Gwin, A.J. Jackson, Jr. (CaSara), Grady Jackson (Shannon), Ardene Jackson, Addie Jackson all of Lansing, MI and Gary Jackson, Sr. (Tanoi) of Jackson, MI; 38 grandchildren; 105 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and many other loving and caring family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Friday, October 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., the family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at Galilee Baptist Church, 2511 Reo Rd., Lansing, MI.  Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5301 N. Michigan Rd., Dimondale, MI.  Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing, MI.

Dear Gary and Tanoi,
Praying for you and your family. Your mother has left a wonderful legacy in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.

shannon and grady and all of helens extended family i am poud to say i started at sparrow hospital 33 years ago working in food service with helen boy what memories she was a very nice and proud woman god bless you all and may her legacy live through all of you she is at peace now god bless
