Age 81, of Holt,  passed away April 19, 2011 in Lansing.  He was born May 6, 1929 in Comstock Park, Michigan to Harry and Delores Picken.  He was a lifelong resident of Holt, was a Veteran of the United States Army from 1946-1948 where he held rank Master Sergeant and was a member of  the 119th Field Artillery of the Michigan National Guard.

He is survived by his children: Patricia (Bob) Scott, James (Mary) Picken, Timothy Picken, Kathleen (Everett) Perry, and Betsy (J.D.) Kelly; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and special friend, Carol Hall.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life Marilyn Picken in 1996.

Robert was a wonderful father, grandfather, and  great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  There will be visitation 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
