Lucile I. Haynes

Lucile HaynesAge 102, beloved mother, grandma, and great-grandma died February 25, 2011, in Okemos, Michigan.  She was born September 29, 1908, in  Alberta, Canada, to Roy and Iva Vaughan.

Lucile was a lifelong resident of the Lansing area, having lived the past 35 years in Dimondale prior to entering the Ingham County Medical Care Facility at the age of 100. Lucile was employed by the federal government, for 21 years retiring in 1971.  She was a longtime active member of Dimondale Presbyterian Church.

Lucile wed her high school sweetheart, Sanford “Sam” W. Haynes in 1927 and they were married 48 years until his death in 1975.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carole Butler in 1965 and a granddaughter, Teresa.

She is survived by her children, Lois Odom of Livonia and S. William (Doris) Haynes of Okemos; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She will long be remembered by all those who knew her for her beautiful smile, quick wit and vibrant personality; but most of all for being the BEST grandma.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, 2121 N. Cedar St., Holt, MI, with the Rev. Elbert Dulworth officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday, one hour prior to service time.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ingham County Medical Care Facility Foundation Fund, 3860 Dobie Rd., Okemos, MI 48864 or to the American Heart Association.
