Age 83, of Lansing, MI, passed away February 4, 2017. She was born September 25, 1933, in Tallulah, Louisiana.

Lorine worked for the State of Michigan for 28 years. She was a long-term member of Paradise Missionary Baptist Church and was an active member of her community.

She is survived by her children, Desma Rodgers, Joyce (Jerome) Shoemaker, Herschel (Verna) Rodgers, Phyllis (Anthony) Winston, and Keith (Ruby) Rodgers; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Elijah Knight; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, 3403 Franette Rd., Lansing. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church’s education fund.

    My sincere condolences on the loss of Mother Rodgers. “Mother” has gone home to glory! I will miss her smile, laughter and sense of humor. She was very kind and thoughtful. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. We loved her but God loved her more. May God bless you all and I know He will give you all the strength you need at this time.
