Richard F. Zapala, 68, of Haslett, Michigan, passed away on December 19, 2016.

Richard was born in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, on March 5, 1948.  Richard graduated from Austin Catholic High School, and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University and from there received his Juris Doctorate from University of Detroit Mercy.

Richard is survived by his wife, Leanne; his daughters, Lauren (Joel) Isanhart and Katherine Zapala; his grandsons, Alec, Adam, Andrew, and Aiden Isanhart; his sister, Janet (Dennis) LeGolvan; his two nephews and the rest of his family and friends.  Richard is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Ann Zapala.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing, Michigan.  Family will be greeting friends at 9:00 a.m.  Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

    Our Pentwater neighbor Rich will be so missed! The condo will not be the same without him. Just really hard to find the right words to express such a loss of your husband, father and our friend. We will miss him big and never forget him! Love and prayers from Linda and Ginger.
